The UT SMART Initiative is proud to announce the publication of the Tennessee Recovery Ecosystem Explorer, developed in close partnership with the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Addiction Science Center. This interactive map enables community leaders, researchers, recovery organizations and others to get a near-real-time picture of which recovery assets are currently available in Tennessee and where they are.

Based on the Recovery Ready Community Framework developed by Robert Ashford, Austin Brown, Rachel Ryding and Brenda Curtis, the Tennessee Recovery Ecosystem Explorer is a living documentation of recovery resources available in the state of Tennessee. It can be used to assess existing recovery ecosystem assets and gaps. This resource can help find resources for Tennesseans affected by substance use disorders. It also provides policymakers and community organizations with a visualization of resources at the local and state levels.

Resources located on this map have been collected and will be maintained by the Substance Misuse and Addiction Resource for Tennessee (SMART) Initiative, housed within the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service (UT IPS). Resources are categorized using the Recovery Ready Community Framework (Ashford et al., 2020). The ETSU Addiction Science Center first completed this model and maintains assets for the northeast Tennessee region.

This map is currently under active development. Additional resources and functionality will continue to be added as the project expands. Information may be updated as new data becomes available. If you have any questions about this map, please contact smart@tennessee.edu.
