Technical Assistance for County and Municipal Governments

Available Assistance

The SMART Initiative is contracted with Tennessee’s Opioid Abatement Council to provide technical assistance and educational support to Tennessee counties while assisting them with allocation and spending of Opioid Abatement Trust Funds.

Our services include assistance with management of opioid settlement funding, development of community-specific opioid abatement strategies, assisting with acquiring and managing state and federal grants related to mitigating addiction and more.

As a part of the UT Institute for Public Service, SMART empowers communities by assisting county and city leadership to implement and maintain prevention, treatment and recovery-related programs. SMART’s regional substance use response consultants provide services across the state.

The SMART Initiative provides numerous services to local and state leaders as part of the Fostering Outreach and Engagement pillar of the University of Tennessee’s Strategic Plan.

The SMART Initiative team meets to discuss upcoming consultations.
